What Color is Fibroid Bleeding?

Bleeding resulting from the shedding of the uterine lining with the release of the egg is called a period of menstruation. Women usually go through this after age 12 to 55 until they enter menopause. This condition usually lasts for about 5-7 days in the case of regular and balanced hormone levels. But what color is fibroid bleeding in general?

The period appears to be red, maroon, or brownish-red in color. Blood flow is usually heavy during the initial days of the period, i.e., 1-3 days, and then gradually reduces and ends with the release of white discharge for a day. However, people with different conditions may experience mild variation.

What Color is Fibroid Bleeding?

A fibroid period is unique to each woman. The color of period blood is typically not significantly affected by the fibroid, and women with fibroids may also experience periods that appear red, brownish, maroon, or brown. However, there may be some noticeable differences that could indicate hormonal imbalance due to fibroids. This variability in experiences is important to understand, as it can help women feel less alone in their journey.

Viscous Blood

Due to the presence of leiomyomas, the blood doesn’t remain as runny as it would during a normal period and may appear more viscous than normal, with blood clots present.

Unusual amount of bleeding

The average period lasts up to 5-7 days. Still, fibroids may cause abnormalities within the uterus, leading to heavy bleeding and more blood flow than usual, which may last more than seven days, which is alarming.

Pelvic Pain

While most women experience mild abdominal pain and bloating during their period, a fibroid can cause more severe discomfort in the pelvic area. The presence of a fibroid can cover a significant area of the uterus leading to a feeling of fullness or a heavy sensation in the pelvic region. As a result, it may result in significant discomfort or pain during the period. This information is important to ensure women are fully informed and aware of the potential severity of fibroid symptoms.

Disruption of Cycle

While most women experience heavy bleeding, some may also frequently experience less blood flow. Furthermore, their menstrual cycle might get disturbed due to fibroids. Fibroids disturb the 28-day cycle. The period may often occur before time or take more than 28 days. It is also possible to experience spotting without proper blood flow occasionally.

Asymptomatic

While these can be significant indicators of the presence of fibroids, it’s important to note that many women may not experience any symptoms and remain asymptomatic while dealing with fibroids. Regular checkups are crucial to ensure overall health. Providing reassurance that any potential issues can be identified and addressed in a timely manner.
