5 Foods to Improve Your Heart Health

The food which are rich in nutrients come in many forms; Protein from plant and animal sources, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. They are recommended by nutritionists as healthy food because they have a relatively large amount of nutritional benefits. They have been shown to help protect your body from catching disease. 

  1. Beans

Beans are the new “meat.” Beans have a proficient source of protein in them. They contain similar nutrients to found in meat, fish and poultry. There are also a good source of fiber and minerals. However, beans may not contain the same amount of iron as certain meats do. They have no saturated fat. 

  1. Berries

Studies have found a strong link between berries and heart. Particularly blueberries and strawberries. These berries are packed with a chemical compound called anthocyanin that is believed to lower blood pressure and protect blood vessels. Unfortunately, berry-flavored baked goods don’t count. 

  1. Dark Leafy Greens

Dark leafy greens are rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals – especially in vitamin B called folate. Most common dark leafy greens can be found at your local grocery store:

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Lettuce (not iceberg or romaine)
  • Mustard
  • Bok choy
  • Salad greens
  1. Food with Good Fats:

 Nuts, Seeds and Salmon. The fats found in nuts and seeds are mono, polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids that improves your cholesterol and prevent from Vascular diseases.  Salmon is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids – a nutrient that lowers blood pressure. 

  1. Oats

Oats are a type of whole grain that provide a fiber known as beta glucan. Fiber is known to help with digestive health, but it can also prevent heart attacks or strokes. If possible, opt for steel-cut oats. They contain no sodium, sugar or preservatives. 

Healthy eating can greatly improve your health, but it is not a replacement for prescribed medications. Eating superfoods (food rich in nutrients) alone may not be enough to fully promote your health. A balanced diet with the right amounts of protein, fiber, vitamins, fat and calories can prevent from many other diseases, deficiencies and maintain a reasonable body weight.
